BitLocker hard drive encrytption

BitLocker Drive Encryption is a data protection feature that integrates with the Windows operating system and addresses the threats of data theft or exposure from lost, stolen, or inappropriately decommissioned computers.

Click here for detailed information about BitLocker.

If it becomes enabled on your Dell PC and you are unable to access any of your data, try these steps:

1) Restart the System
2) At the Dell logo keep tapping F2 (this will bring you to the BIOS screen)
3) Go to Secure Boot header and select Expert Key Management
4) Click Restore Settings
5) Select Factory Settings
6) Press OK
7) Exit the BIOS and restart the computer

Note: these instructions only apply to Dell computers.  If your computer is from a different manufacturer, you may have to contact their support (or visit their website) for their specific instructions.
